well, well, well...no well

The well guys did finally show up. I guess the plan was that they would drop off stuff on Thursday and Friday and actually start drilling on Friday. And they actually did bring a truck on Thursday. On Friday morning they stopped by, told Lee they had to go get a basin and would be right back. They definitely did return on Friday, sometime late afternoon and did drop off the basin. It was raining so hard on Friday it probably would've been useless to drill anyway: there was so much water everywhere they'd never know if they hit ground water or just a big puddle. And of course today we are having a nor'easter with about 100 feet of snow. I'm guessing we won't have a well before Spring. And in New England, we don't really know when Spring will happen. The good news is that all the inside heating equipment can be ordered and installed so we can be ready to fire up whenever we do get the well.

Lots of good stuff happening inside:

Bill did find the electric box for the ceiling light in the basement guest bath. Also, the vanity for that bathroom has been brought out of storage

Bob has just about finished the tiling of the indoor outdoor room. And Peter's bathroom. I think next he'll be doing the laundry room, then the vestibule and the basement powder room and I think that's it for tiling.

Katelyn and Bill started doing the panelling in Peter's study. Actually Peter and I were there on Sunday and it was almost finished: just the chair rail is left. It will be quite studious in there.

The wood floors are done except for the final coat of urethane which will go on as all the workers are leaving the premises. The floors look great.

And the painters have made good progress on the 3rd floor. We now have color in the hallway and the 2 bedrooms. We finally can see how this new product of Benjamin Moore really looks - and it is a good thing. Unfortunately my camera does not show the colors properly. Sarah's room is actually darker than the hallway and Emily's room is a taupy gray (whatever that means)

And the stainers have begun working on refreshing the wood trim.

Outside, Mike the mason and his team are back to do the stone walls on the outside of the garage. The picture with the cinderblocks shows where the stairs will be from the deck.

It really was snowing pretty hard this morning so I decided to stay in Boston and get some stuff done in the apartment. But I am told our intrepid team showed up at the house so I look forward to seeing what they did today - tomorrow.
