More colors, and a toilet or 2!

While the whole thing was going on outside with the well and the trench, the indoor crew was motoring along painting, staining, installing...

Katelyn took a week off for R&R in Aruba which meant Bill had to do alot of work on his own without a woman's touch. But he truly rose to the occasion. He installed all the built-ins in the lower level which included moving the plumbing for the wet bar sink becauseI didn't want it so close to the wall. He is really very patient with me. And we were both pleased to see that the recycling bin actually will fit in the cabinet we had elaborately designed to house it. (Thanks, Rebecca for letting us borrow your bin).

On the first floor, Bill and I decided the shorter faucets would be appropriate for the claw foot sink in the powder room. By the way, a special thank you to Suzanne at Porcelain and Brass for sending us the long and short faucets for both wall mounts. She told me she had a sleepless night thinking we may not have made the right choices originally so she decided to order both, see which works, and deal with returning the others later. I'm glad she did because we did not go with our original choices.

Once the painters got out of the master bedroom, Bill got to work in the alcove replacing the drawers and building new shelves. It will all be stained to match the built-ins in my dressing room and all the new drawers are full extension, soft-close and sturdy. It almost makes my dressing room a bit obsolete.

I was away for a couple of days and came back to find alot more staining and painting done. Here's what we have so far. It's not necessarily final coat, but it shows basically what it will look like :

Katelyn cameback, raring to go. She wasn't pleased with the condition of the railing on the 3rd floor, so she sanded it all down before re-staining it.

And the painters painted the ceiling in upstairs hall. I guess they have to wait til the trim stain is finished before they can do the walls. I got a stiff neck just watching.

And we said good bye to the merimeko wall paper in the butler's pantry as that gets prepped for painting

And on Friday, the plumbers showed up to start installing bathrooms! There was a little technical problem with the 3rd floor sink drain and vanity, so that will have to wait, although they did get the tub plumbing in. And they got all the plumbing, including the toilet in the 2nd floor guest room. We still have to wait for the shower heads to come in, and the water's not on yet to test for leaks and stuff, but it's still progress.

And finally, for this entry, the wandering toilet is back down in the I/O room powder room - hopefully it's final resting place. Always classy to end with an open-lided toilet (something you will never see inmy house once we move back in).
