Let the sunshine in

The new windows for the addition and bays came in last week. They were supposed to be delivered the Tuesday after Memorial Day, but Lee worked a bit of his magic and when I was at the house last Friday, they were all sitting in the living room.

Bill and Katelyn have been very busy installing them. By last night we had the front windows and part of the bay in the den and the windows in the vestibule in place. It requires alot of muscle and levelling and patience. So far everything seems to fit, and they look great.

You don't realize how important windows are til you've been without them for a while and then they're back.

The views from the kitchen and the family room through the vestibule are so nice. I can't wait til the family room bay is done.

The plumbers are just about finished with all the piping. They are just testing everything for pressure and leaks. Hopefully the inspector will come Monday to sign off.

And Chris is working hard to finish off the duct work for the HVAC. He figures he'll have the boilers and air handlers installed in a few weeks.

In the basement, the soffits are being framed around the duct work. Once that is done we can finalize the shape of the ceiling and the lighting for the area. Lee is going to do a mock-up of the pool table so we can be sure to position the billiard light precisely.

It looks like Ken is prayng that all the framing will be plumb. I'm not worried.

Lee tried sandblasting the brick ceiling in the indoor outdoor room. It did a great job removing all the old paint, but now you can really see that the mortaring was done very sloppily - not something we want to highlight. (Katelyn thinks the workers who did the brick work in the ceiling were probably the same ones who dropped all the empty liquor bottles down the chimney. She could be right.) So we will probably put up a brick veneer.

Wiring for the alarm system and the A/V stuff should be beginning soon. And within te next 2 weeks we will finish selecting all flooring material.

Things are moving fast. I love it.
